Calabasas, CA

Calabasas, CA

Calabasas has small town charm yet close enough to Los Angeles to enjoy city life.

Welcome to beautiful Calabasas, California!  Located in Northwest Los Angeles County, Calabasas is 25 miles west of downtown Los Angeles, 8 miles east of the Ventura County line.  Calabasas is known as the gateway to the Santa Monica mountains (www.nps.gov/samo), and this upscale community has small town charm.  We’re far enough outside Los Angeles to enjoy our own unique identity, yet close enough to take advantage of all it has to offer. Calabasas is conveniently located near many employment opportunities and attractions, and is surrounded by scenic open space.

Los Angeles is close by and has a strong game industry presence.  There are many game developers in the Los Angeles area such as Activision, Obsidian, Riot Games, Take Two Interactive, Disney and many more.
Calabasas itself is a master planned community, with a mix of newer and older residential neighborhoods with lake, coastal, and mountain views.  Nestled among rolling hills and mere minutes from the beach and mountains, the city has a strong commitment to preserving the natural beauty and small town charm of the area.

Calabasas schools are part of the distinguished “Blue Ribbon” Las Virgenes school district and are annually rated in the top levels of Southern California schools.  http://www.lvusd.k12.ca.us/webapps/portal/     There are no less than 30 colleges, universities, and professional schools nearby, including three campuses of the University of California system, seven from the California State University system, and twenty private colleges and universities, as well as another 30 junior colleges and technical institutes.

Entertainment options abound – there are several movie theaters, free open-air concerts, many beaches nearby (try Topanga to watch the surfers, or beautiful Zuma), plenty of restaurants and shops, and tons of hiking.  Calabasas has miles of biking trails, a variety of sports leagues, and a swim and tennis center, as well as several parks.

Nearby neighborhoods to check out include Woodland Hills, West Hills, Canoga Park, Winnetka, Reseda, Tarzana, Encino, Van Nuys, Northridge, Agoura Hills, Hidden Hills, Oak Park, Malibu, and Topanga.
